Our First Planting in Altadena: The Beginning of a Restored Canopy

On May 14, 2026, Green Fenix planted its first trees in Altadena, marking a powerful milestone in our mission to restore communities impacted by the Eaton Fire.

This first planting was more than the installation of trees—it was the beginning of a long-term commitment to rebuild what was lost and bring new life back to a community that has experienced unimaginable change.

When wildfire moves through a neighborhood, the damage is immediate. Homes are lost, landscapes are transformed, and the familiar character of a community can disappear overnight. But restoration takes time. A thriving urban canopy that once took decades to grow cannot be replaced without intentional action.

That is where Green Fenix begins.

Restoring More Than Trees

Trees are not just part of a landscape. They are living infrastructure that supports healthier, more resilient communities.

A mature tree provides cooling shade, improves air quality, supports biodiversity, helps manage stormwater, increases neighborhood beauty, and creates spaces where people can reconnect with nature. After a disaster, these benefits become even more meaningful.

By planting mature, fire-resilient trees, Green Fenix is helping accelerate the recovery process—restoring the canopy that communities need while honoring the landscapes that existed before the fire.

A Community Effort Rooted in Partnership

The first planting represents the power of collaboration.

Through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity of San Gabriel Valley, which identifies rebuilding families, and Moon Valley Nurseries, our planting partner responsible for site inspections, installation, and one year of tree care, Green Fenix is creating a restoration model centered on expertise, stewardship, and community impact.

Every tree planted through Green Fenix receives ongoing care and maintenance for its first year—helping ensure each tree has the best possible chance to establish roots and thrive.

Because restoration is not just about planting trees.

It is about growing a future.

The First Tree Is Just the Beginning

The May 14th planting represents the first step toward a much larger vision: restoring thousands of trees across Altadena and helping rebuild a healthier, more resilient community.

For families returning to rebuilt homes, these trees represent more than shade or beauty. They represent renewal. They represent a neighborhood coming back to life. They represent hope taking root.

Wildfires can change a landscape in an instant. Restoring it takes years—and it takes all of us.

Green Fenix is committed to being part of that restoration.

Together, we can rebuild the canopy. Together, we can restore Altadena.
